Abstract

We present a first step towards anticipatory machine improvisationsystems. The proposed system, based on fundamentals of musiccognition, is a multi-agent memory-based collaborative andcompetitive reinforcement learning architecture, capable of liveinteraction with a musician or a music score. Results demonstratethe ability to model long-term stylistic planning and need for muchless training data than reported in previous works.
